Estonian Independence Day Parade 2026

On Tuesday, 24 February, the general public is invited to Tallinn’s Freedom Square to witness firsthand one of Estonia’s most important annual celebrations: the Republic of Estonia Independence Day Parade. Celebrating its 108th anniversary, Estonia honours those who have fought and strived to safeguard the country’s freedom.

The parade will officially begin at noon, with more than a thousand active-duty service members from the Estonian Defence Forces taking place. Approximately 50 units of military equipment will also be showcased in the parade. These will represent 11 companies and eight platoons from various branches of the Estonian military and allies.

The Estonian Defence Forces Orchestra and the Defence League Orchestra will provide musical accompaniment, and four military service dogs will make up the cutest portion of the parade. Weather-permitting of course, there will be a flyover of allied aircraft.

Estonian President Alar Karis will also be present to “receive the procession”. After the parade, several units of military equipment will be on display for up-close observation. From infantry fighting vehicles and armoured medical carriers, to air defence systems and rocket launchers. Notable exhibits will be displayed by British, French, and American forces.

Many other cities and towns throughout Estonia will also have their own Independence Day celebrations.

Estonia declared independence in 1918, and subsequently fought—and won—the War of Independence.
