What better way to celebrate the arrival of a New Year than with thousands of people and great live music? That’s exactly what will happen on Tallinn’s Freedom Square on New Year’s Eve. Three great Estonian superstar bands will have a concert, and it’s free for the general public!
While you can show up any time you want, the event will officially begin at 22:00 when the Synne Valtri Band takes the stage for a set. They will be immediately followed by 5MIINUST, who represented Estonia in the Eurovision Song Contest. Estonian President Alar Karis will give a speech in the very last minutes of the Old Year. After the stroke of midnight, legendary Estonian band Terminaator will take the stage.
In lieu of a traditional fireworks display, there will be a laser light show with pyrotechnics.
The event is free of charge, and some roads will be closed to make the area safe for everyone, so plan on walking, or taking public transport to get to Freedom Square. Fireworks and glass bottles are not allowed at this event, and it is not recommended to bring a pet.
If the weather is too cold for you, but you still want to enjoy the concert, it will be televised on Kanal 2. More information is available on the City of Tallinn’s homepage.
