Five Christmas Events Worth Visiting

Estonia’s capital is brimming with Christmas cheer and festive events. Here are five interesting happenings worth visiting in addition to Tallinn’s traditional Christmas Market:

30 November—Lighting of the Noblessner Christmas Tree and visit to the Shishi store

The lights of the magnificent Christmas tree in Noblessner Square will be switched on for the first Sunday of Advent. The designers from the interior store Shishi have decorated the tree again this year. While enjoying the harbour area’s festive atmosphere, you can also visit the Shishi shop to buy beautiful Christmas decorations and gifts.

6 December—Nõmme Christmas Market

You can easily reach the Nõmme Christmas Market by train from Tallinn’s Baltic Station—the journey takes about ten minutes. At the market, you can buy meats, fish, salad ingredients, preserves, and other festive foods, while enjoying performances and various workshops. Santa Claus will also make an appearance to greet the little ones.

7 December—Põhjala Factory Christmas Land

The Põhjala Factory is Kopli’s creative hub, filled with boutiques, restaurants, bars, cafés, and studios. During the Christmas Land event, visitors can take part in workshops, visit studios, do some festive shopping, enjoy gingerbread, have fun at the Christmas disco, and much more. The holiday rush will surely be forgotten at Põhjala Factory!

13 December—Christmas Market of Estonian Museum Shops

For one day only, Estonian museums gather to sell their products at Tallinn’s Creative Hub—Kultuurikatel. At the same time and venue, a book market will also take place. Find soft gifts, design items, Estonian honey, preserves, handicrafts, books, and other creative and practical presents to put under the Christmas tree.

14 December—Estonian Academy of Arts (EKA) Christmas Fair

The Estonian Academy of Arts hosts its annual Christmas Fair in its beautiful building in the Kalamaja district of Tallinn. The fair spreads across five floors, where current and former EKA students sell their creations. It’s a great opportunity to find unique treasures you won’t see in shops!
