A new experience awaits those heading to Latvia, right in the heart of Riga. A rooftop terrace—set to become the city’s highest public square—is being built on top of the Galleria Riga shopping centre. The upcoming 3200-square meter terrace will offer breathtaking panoramic views of the Old Town. In addition, the rooftop will feature restaurants, cafés, and a running track.
The terrace will be located in a UNESCO World Heritage area, so the new structures on the roof will not be visible from street level. Construction, led by East Capital Real Estate, is scheduled to begin in spring 2026.
The new terrace is designed for year-round use. In the summer, the focus will be on open lounging areas, while for rainy and colder days, covered pavilions are planned. An event space will be located in the centre of the square.
In recent years, Galleria Riga has been undergoing other transformations as well. The shopping centre now hosts Riga’s largest coworking hub, Workland, and the expansion of MyFitness will make it the city’s biggest fitness club. Several international and local brands have also joined the tenant roster.
