If Children Ruled the World…Or at Least Võru

On the final weekend of July in Võru, the capital city of Southern Estonia, children take over the town. The Võru Children’s Festival is an exciting two-day event for children of all ages. A large part of the city becomes a veritable playground, with games and activities at every corner, on each street, and all along the lakefront.
Downtown Võru will be divided into themed sections, including a theatre courtyard, movies and video games, magic, a circus, science and technology, open-stage performances by the children themselves, a mini-zoo, an amusement park, and of course the famous Foam Party. There will also be a lot more, naturally, because we would all do anything for the children. Right?
Each year the Võru Children’s Festival also features a fair where children can buy toys, candies, sweet pastries, and anything else children can imagine. Entrance to the festival is free.
The following four theme parks do require a ticket, however: The Adventure & Amusement Park, the Cinema House, the Theatre Courtyard, and the Fantasy Courtyard. Both days of the festival start at 10:00, and Saturday concludes at 18:00, Sunday at 15:00. The full schedule is available here in Estonian.
The beautiful shores of Lake Tamula have an impressive boardwalk with fine, sandy beaches, and several ice cream vendors, so even if the weather is too hot, you’ll still have a great time.
