Seal Day at Tallinn Zoo

Even if you don’t eat them, everyone loves seals. These highly intelligent ocean-dwelling mammals are celebrating International Seal Day at Tallinn Zoo this Saturday. Zookeepers will demonstrate how the zoo’s seals are fed, and describe their lives in the wild. The event is free for all visitors with a zoo ticket.

Tallinn Zoo has two seals, named Lielu and Lätipoiss (Latvian Boy). Both are in their mid-20s, and love to show off their skills to visitors. The Seal Day programme will begin at 12:30, and last for a couple of hours (seals need their rest, after all).

The zoo itself opens at 9, so visitors can arrive early and visit the hundreds of other animals that live there. From the African savannas to the Amazon rainforest, Tallinn Zoo has quite the experience to offer people of all ages. Almost every year the zoo opens a new or upgraded exhibit. Of particular interest is how visitors can view the old, now-empty exhibits of several animals, so you can see for yourselves how much the zoo cares for its residents, and improves their lives whenever possible.

Food and drink are available throughout the zoo, and not just for the animals! Guided tours are also available in multiple languages, including English. Tallinn Zoo’s newest exhibit, Tiger Valley, is open and ready for visitors, although final touches are still ongoing.

Visit Tallinn Zoo’s homepage to read more and buy an e-ticket, or buy one on site.
