Kyiv Grand Ballet to present Swan Lake

Between February 6 and 9, the Kyiv Grand Ballet will perform Swan Lake, a timeless ballet by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, at various venues around Estonia. First performed in 1877, Swan Lake is widely regarded as one of the most known and frequently staged ballets. The production tells the story of love, loyalty, and the eternal conflict between light and darkness through the roles of the White Swan and the Black Swan.

Despite ongoing debates around performing works by Russian composers, Swan Lake remains an important cultural piece, its music and narrative transcending political divides. Ana Sophia Scheller will perform the role of Odette and Odile, with Viktor Tomashek as Prince Siegfried. Both are celebrated dancers, with Scheller having danced with the New York City Ballet and Tomashek known for his many international awards.

The Kyiv Grand Ballet is known for its technical skill, stunning costumes, and moving performances.
