Early Music Festival brings timeless classical music to Estonia

The week-long Early Music Festival will begin on Saturday, November 23, with an opening concert at the House of the Blackheads in Tallinn’s Old Town. This year’s festival will feature performances in four different locations: Tallinn, Tartu, Otepää, and Laulasmaa, by musicians from all over Europe.

The opening concert will feature the Estonian Baroque Orchestra and the Collegium Musicale chamber choir, who will perform cantatas and concertos by Georg Philipp Telemann. The Estonian Baroque Orchestra, made up of internationally renowned early music specialists, was founded by Estonian-based harpist Andrew Lawrence-King.

Musicians from Great Britain, France, Spain, Ukraine, and Finland will also perform at the festival. Concerts will take place in Tallinn’s historic Old Town, at venues that date back to the Middle Ages, the Arvo Pärt Centre in Laulusmaa, Tartu’s Tubin Hall, and Otepää Cultural Centre.

Flute students from the Music and Ballet School (MUBA) will perform three concerts in the Antonius Chapel of the Niguliste Museum. The ensembles of young musicians will present works from the 17th and 18th centuries. Additionally, on December 1, young Ukrainian multi-talented artist Havryl Sydoryk will delight with a harpsichord performance at the Niguliste Museum. Admission to the Niguliste concerts is included with a standard museum ticket.

You can get more information about the full programme of concerts and tickets from Piletilevi.
