Cirque du Soleil to perform five shows in Tallinn in June

Cirque du Soleil, the most famous circus in the world, will perform five shows as part of their OVO tour at Tallinn’s Unibet Arena between June 1 and 4. Since the show premiered in Montreal in 2009, OVO has thrilled more than 7 million people worldwide.

The idea behind Cirque du Soleil was born in 1984 in Baie-Saint-Paul, Canada, when a group of colourful characters roamed the streets on crutches, juggling, dancing, breathing fire and making music. Guy Laliberté, Gilles Ste-Croix and their friends started working on a rather crazy dream, they wanted to create a completely new type of circus and travel the world with their troupe.

Today, Cirque du Soleil has 3,600 employees worldwide, including 1,000 performers of 76 nationalities.

The touring show OVO, which comprises of 100 performers from 25 nations, will showcase high-level acrobatic tricks that push the limits of the human body.

At the beginning of the show, there is a giant egg on the stage (OVO means egg in Portuguese). This inflatable egg, which is 8.5 meters wide and almost 7 meters long, symbolises the circle of life.

OVO is Cirque du Soleil’s first and only show whose characters are exclusively insects. Various insects are represented in the show, including crickets, grasshoppers, scarabs, butterflies, red ants, fleas, locusts, dragonflies, spiders, flies, ladybirds, beetles, cockroaches, mosquitoes and worms. The show includes a variety of acrobatic performances, beautiful music and elaborate costumes inspired by nature.

Tickets for the show, which will run from June 1 to 4 at the Unibet Arena in Tallinn are available to purchase from the Piletilevi online ticketing portal here
