Wagenküll Miracle Garden to Appear on Icelandic Television

The enchanting Wagenküll Miracle Garden at Taagepera Castle is gaining international attention. Known for its fairy-tale charm, the park has attracted thousands of visitors and even caught the interest of film directors from abroad. Recently, a crew from Icelandic television filmed part of an upcoming documentary at the park.

The documentary, featuring four-year-old Ísey Ava, is a cross-cultural project highlighting a summer in Estonia and Iceland. Ísey, whose father is Estonian Rünno Allikivi and mother is Icelandic Melkorka S. Magnúsdóttir, will explore various locations in Estonia and spend time with local relatives. The film crew decided to include the magical Taagepera Castle gardens, drawn by its floral and sculptural beauty.

Linda Ásgeirsdóttir, the film’s director and producer, expressed her team’s admiration for the Wagenküll Miracle Garden. “Our team was thrilled with the park’s unique landscape and environment,” Ásgeirsdóttir said. “We were fortunate to film on a sunny day, and the park had so much to offer that we could have filmed for a whole week.”

The documentary is expected to be completed by Christmas and will be shown on both Icelandic and Estonian television, with hopes to reach viewers in other countries. Ásgeirsdóttir, who has over 25 years of experience in Icelandic children’s theatre and television, has directed more than 150 television shows and stage productions.

“We had a wonderful time filming in Estonia, capturing beautiful scenes with Ísey and her family. We were warmly welcomed and received great help from many wonderful people. Ísey is a creative, curious, and cheerful girl who speaks Estonian, Icelandic, and a bit of English. She loves to play, read, and enjoy life,” Ásgeirsdóttir added.

Jan Oscar Veidenberg, the project manager of Wagenküll Miracle Garden, noted the park’s growing popularity as a family destination. He remarked on the park’s suitability for the documentary, highlighting its appeal to both children and adults. “It was gratifying to hear praise from the Icelandic team for the effort put into creating this magical world – such a park is unique in Estonia,” said Veidenberg.
