This summer, Estonian fashion designers will create the world’s longest catwalk from Tallinn to Paris

This summer, under the leadership of fashion designers Karl Joonas Alamaa and Lisette Sivard, the world’s longest fashion show “MANIA GRANDIOSA. From Tallinn to Paris” will take place. Over the course of 5 days in July, models will walk more than 100 km from Tallinn to the village of Paris in Lääne-Virumaa.

Ten models will start walking from Tallinn Airport on July 4, from there the journey will take them along forest and country paths until they reach the village of Paris in Lääne-Virumaa on July 8, where the final performance will take place at the equestrian centre. On their journey, the models will pass through, for example, Maardu, Moe, Tapa, Kehra and Mustjõe.

The work is like a pilgrimage to the Mecca of fashion, which thousands of people in the fashion industry undertake every year in the hope of finally reaching “the end”. The work raises the question of what happens when, instead of the coveted fashion capital and metropolis, a country home awaits after a difficult ordeal? What happens when dreams change, when what is desired becomes distant, and if and when the journey ends?

Information about the event can be found on the official website,  and tickets can already be purchased on the Fienta online ticketing portal.

Karl Joonas Alamaa is a fashion and costume designer with a tailor’s background, who studied fashion at the Estonian Academy of Arts and furthered his education in costume design at the Royal Academy of Arts in Antwerp. He is a former winner of the Eduard Wiiralt Prize and a nominee for the Silver Needle Award.

Lisette Sivard is a fashion and costume designer who studied at the Estonian Academy of Arts and furthered her education in design at the Faculty of Liberal Arts at Brno University of Technology.

The 5-day long event is supported by the Estonian Cultural Foundation, Nautica Keskus and the EKA Student Council.
