Join thousands on a free bike ride in Tallinn this Sunday

Tour d’ÖÖ, a renowned cycling event held annually in Tallinn, as part of Tallinn Bicycle Week, will take place this Sunday, September 22. This year’s event, which is open to all and free of charge, coincides with International Car Free Day.

Tour d’ÖÖ aims to foster cycling culture within urban environments and make it a regular part of city life. The core concept is to gather cyclists in a large group to take over Tallinn’s streets for an evening, showcasing how cycling can seamlessly integrate into the city’s transport network.

The event is a community cycling experience rather than a competition. Participants are encouraged to assemble at Tallinn’s Freedom Square by 4.30 pm, with the ride commencing at 5 pm. The route will take cyclists through various parts of the city, allowing them to enjoy the evening twilight with fellow riders.

Tour d’ÖÖ has been a significant event in Estonia for many years, drawing thousands of participants each year. The event reflects the increasing popularity of cycling and heightened environmental awareness. The aim being to highlight the benefits of cycling for the climate and urban environment, in addition to its health benefits.

In celebration of Car Free Day, additional activities will take place prior to the ride at Tammsaare Park, including orienteering competition, sports games, and live music.

Bikes can also be rented through services such as Bolt, Rekola Bikesharing, and City Bike.
