September in Estonia means it’s time to run, or as they say it in Estonian, jooksuaeg! All joking aside, for three days starting on 11 September, there will be numerous races for people of all ages and athletes who want to run various distances. From a fun free-style race to a full marathon, the Swedbank Tallinn Marathon has it all
The first day features the Welcome Run in Kadriorg Park at 18:30, a 2.6 km loop that can be run as many times as you can, or want. If you’re already registered for any of the other Swedbank Tallinn Marathon runs, participation is free. Otherwise it’s €10. There will also be a concert by the MuBa Big Band.
The second day, 12 September, features the 21K Half-Marathon at 9:00 starting on Falgi tee right next to the Old Town. From 11:00–14:00 children can run in the Limpa Kids’ Races at Snelli Stadium, followed at 14:00 by the Tallinn Fall Race 10K at the same starting location as the Half-Marathon. And finally for that day, at 18:30 is the Nike Youth Run 5K, this race starting on Freedom Square. Throughout the day there will be three concerts.
13 September is the main event, the 42K Swedbank Tallinn Marathon! It starts at 9:00, as does the 42K Relay Marathon, again at the same location on Falgi tee. The awards ceremonies are at 13:00, so if you feel like you might be a contender, you should count on being able to finish in under four hours, or learn how to cheat.
As always, because this is Estonia, there is a Virtual Run, also 42K, that you can compete in at any time throughout the month of September.
