In Kalamaja, craft beer will be celebrated on Saturday, 25 October, at the Humalakoda brewpub. On site, 20 Estonian and international breweries will present their best beers and talk about brewing, visions of the industry, and of course the stories behind their own beers, since every craft beer always has its own origin story.
There are many small breweries in Estonia. About fifteen years ago, a craft beer boom hit the country. Groups of friends started brewing beer in garages and warehouses, bottling it, and selling it. Some succeeded and continued their operations. For example, Põhjala has grown into a large brewery that sells its beers internationally. Beer culture is by no means foreign in a country where beer has been brewed and enjoyed for hundreds of years, and where brewing has long traditions.
Estonian breweries participating in the event are Humalakoda, Tuletorn Brewing, Põhjala, SNCO Pruul, Anderson’s Brewery, Mäepea, Nöösker, Ollõluuja Pruulikoda, HullHumal, Viscosa Brewery, and Viljandi Vaadimees. Bevog from Austria will also be present, as well as Didko Brewery from Ukraine, Pivnica Mlinarica from Croatia, Brouwerij Hoppug from Belgium, Moon Lark from Poland, Salama Brewing Company from Finland, Valmiermuiža from Latvia, Home Creatures from Slovenia, and Dulac from Italy.
The event will take place in a restricted area, so dining at the Humalakoda restaurant will still be possible despite the event. Tickets for the event are limited. You can buy tickets here.
