Many people find it difficult to get real kebabs in Tallinn. This was also noticed by Reza and Ali, originally from Turkey. The two men have lived in Estonia for seven years. “We opened our own restaurant because you simply couldn’t get authentic, properly prepared Turkish kebabs anywhere in Estonia,” says Reza.

The place is called KebabRA. It’s the duo’s first restaurant. Reza adds that the last two letters of the name are the initials of their first names. “We make the best and most authentic kebabs in Estonia, and we’re proud of it,” the satisfied chef continues.

KebabRA is located near Linnahall, in the Kalasadam neighborhood, close to the seaside promenade. Despite its small size, the restaurant is bustling. The simply decorated interior has only a few seats, and during summer, three small tables are set up in front of the restaurant. A large portion of the orders are made in advance for takeaway or delivered by couriers. “You can order from us directly by phone, or through the Wolt and Bolt apps or websites,” adds Ali.

The portions are truly large.

It seems that even though KebabRA has only been open for three months, it has already built a loyal customer base—the door is constantly opening and closing. One reason for its popularity is surely the handmade beef döner skewer, made from pure meat without any additives. Kebab is typically meat grilled on skewers. Turkish döner kebab is a large rotating grill skewer.

“Many kebab restaurants use factory-made skewers, but we make our döner skewers ourselves from whole beef. The taste is better and more authentic than with industrially produced ones,” explains Ali. The menu includes kebab plates as well as pita, wrap, and burger kebabs, plus the traditional Turkish Iskender kebab, which includes grilled meat served with pieces of toasted bread and yoghurt.

The claim that KebabRA offers the best kebabs in Estonia might actually be true. The beef is particularly good—rich, and flavourful. The sauces complement the meat’s taste without overpowering it. The portions are also large, with no skimping on meat. In addition to sauces and yoghurt, kebabs include lettuce, tomato, onion, and shredded vegetables. A spicier version is available on request.

For an extra €3, you can upgrade to a meal combo that includes French fries and a soft drink. In addition to soft drinks, beer and other alcoholic beverages are available.
