22 March–3 August BANANA exhibition by Flo Kasearu, Tallinn

BANANA, or Build Absolutely Nothing Anywhere Near Anyone, by Flo Kasearu, is an exhibition at the Kai Art Centre featuring the use of public land and its effects on culture.

 

1–30 June Saaremaa Peony Festival, Pärni

The Peony Festival is the largest festival dedicated to peonies in Europe. It is held during the peony flowering season. The best time to visit the flower show is usually mid-June.

 

1 June–31 August Folk Art Society performances every weekend, Tallinn

Every Saturday and Sunday at 11:00 the Leigarid Folk Art Society will have folk-style family celebrations and events involving dancing, singing, games, and more in the Estonian Open-Air Museum.

 

16–23 June Suure-Jaani Music Festival, Suure-Jaani

A small festival in central Estonia featuring predominantly Estonian music, culminating in the “Swamp Concert” in the early hours of 23 June, and the lighting of a Midsummer bonfire.

 

17 June Jean-Michel Jarre concert, Tallinn

The music of electronic pioneer Jean-Michel Jarre will be in concert in the Unibet Arena. The only concert of his in the Baltics, the audience can expect his signature stage design and laser show.

 

18–21 June Aspen Hike along the Pärnu River, Pärnu

Spend a wonderful summer day on a guided tour exploring the beautiful nature around Pärnu. This is your chance to find out what an “aspen ride” is, which is protected on UNESCO’s cultural heritage list.

 

20 June METALCALYPSE, Tartu

Famed Tartu nightclub and concert venue Genialistide Klubi will host a concert featuring four Estonian metal bands—Bloodfeather, Pale Alison, Sold, and Osilian.

 

20–23 June Midsummer Bonfires in Southern Estonia, Southern Estonia

There are many bonfires throughout the country, and especially Southern Estonia, to celebrate Midsummers. Many of these bonfire events are open to the public and feature live music by Estonia’s top artists, as well as food, beverage, and other activities.

 

21 June Medieval Day, Vastseliina Castle

The Vastseliina Bishop’s Castle will hold a medieval-themed day full of events featuring music, workshops, children’s activities, and an overall experience teaching visitors about the history of the castle and surrounding areas.

 

21 June Silvia Ilves and Sons in concert, Valgesoo

Famed Estonian cellist Silvia Ilves and her sons will have a series of concerts throughout the day on 21 June in the beautiful Paatsi, Valgesoo, in anticipation of Midsummer.
