According to Statistics Estonia, 29 full-length films were made in Estonia in 2022. This is four times more than in 2021. The number of corporate films has also increased with 1,773 being made last year. Corporate films include all advertising, promotional, and educational films, as well as music videos.
“In 2022, 12 feature films and 13 documentaries were made, which were shown in Estonian cinemas in the same year,” explained Sigrid Saagpakk, an analyst at Statistics Estonia.
A total of 45 short films were produced by Estonian companies. “This figure remained unchanged. The biggest drop has been in the number of short animations, of which only two were made in Estonia in 2022, while 12 were completed the year before,” adds Saagpakk.
The number of corporate films has also increased compared to the previous year. In 2021, 1,420 were produced and in 2022 the number was 1,773. Of these, the most were commercial films (802) and educational films (453). Last year, 106 music videos were made.
In 2022, there were 424 Estonian television productions (broadcasts and series). In 2021, the corresponding number was 365.
