ViruFest in Jõhvi

Every city, town, and village in Estonia seems to have had a festival this summer, and Jõhvi’s very own ViruFest 2025 is unquestionably one of the fastest-growing festivals around. This festival will take place on one day only, making it a perfect opportunity to explore this less famous, but very fascinating, part of the country. Two of Estonia’s top musical artists will take to the stage, and there are activities for the whole family.

Anne Veski has been one of the most popular singers in Estonia for decades. Even if you don’t know her music, she brings a certain energy to the stage that is incredibly memorable. She will perform at 18:00 at ViruFest, and will be followed by Karl Erik Taukar and his band. Taukar has become possibly the most sought-after musicians for festivals in the country. Between their performances, there will be a magical science show on the stage.

The children’s area will feature fun face-painting, magic shows, music, and will conclude with a disco. Arts and crafts as well as sports events will also be available to all children.

The festival area is next door to the famous Jõhvi Concert Hall, where several major concerts and even official government ceremonies have taken place. Jõhvi itself is close to the sea, and could quite literally be considered the heart of Estonia, due to how most of the country’s energy is produced in the area. First-time visitors would not have far to drive to explore the various museums dedicated to mining, as well as hike on the artificial mountains.

The full programme is available here in Estonian and Russian.
