Top sunglasses trends for summer 2024"We select all the products in the shop according to our customer's wishes," explains Elena Klais of Tallinna Optika.

More and more often, travellers in Estonia find themselves buying glasses. As summer approaches, sunglasses are particularly in demand. Opticians’ collections may have similar brands, but the styles can vary greatly. Therefore, it’s worth visiting different shops to find the sunglasses that suit you best.

This year’s most eye-catching designs are oversized and mask-style sunglasses, which are large and cover more of the face. They are also available frameless and with lightly tinted lenses.

In addition to masks and oversized models, customers are also seeking sport-chic sunglasses. These are sporty models that can be worn for more than just sports. Instead of large sunglasses, young people are opting for narrower models with thick frames.

Aviators Are Not Going Out of Fashion

“Today’s sunglasses trend is vibrant and colourful. Sunglasses come in many different styles, and frames can be quite edgy and colourful. People also prefer photochromic models, which are self-darkening,” says Jelena Soonik from Norman Optika.

The aviator model is a perennial trend, particularly popular this year. Ray-Ban has an excellent range of aviators.

“Both men and women buy aviators because it’s a model that suits many people. But Ray-Ban is not the only brand that makes aviator sunglasses,” adds Soonik.

What Do Men Look For?

“Men like glasses with a double bridge,” shared Soonik.

Elena Klais from Tallinn Optika echoes this sentiment, showcasing a Ray-Ban Lenny Kravitz Reverse model. “Aviators have made a big comeback this year. These aviators are really popular. The special thing about these sunglasses is the flatness of the lens, so there’s no curvature at all,” says Klais.

Instrumentarium in Estonia

Instrumentarium can be found in Viru Keskus in Tallinn. We admired sunglasses from the Finnish company Balmuir, sold exclusively in Estonia by Instrumentarium.

“The trend is big on plastic models, with a steady flow of metal ones. The trend for small sunglasses continues. Many prefer Ray-Ban, and Oakley is popular,” said a salesperson from Instrumentarium. Sunglasses are worn all year round because eyes need protection in winter too.

Children love colourful sunglasses. Children’s sunglasses can also be ordered with lenses in different strengths from Instrumentarium.

Sunglasses with Prescription Lenses

If you need prescription sunglasses, you can have your vision checked at any optician shop. An appointment can be made in advance or on the spot. However, shops send the glasses to customers within 14-21 days.
