This weekend (October 12-13), the 14th Vegan Fair, known as ‘Veganmess,’ will take place at the Kultuurikatel in Tallinn. The event, the biggest of it’s kind in the Baltics, celebrates plant-based products and vegan lifestyle, and features a rich programme of discussions, presentations, film screenings, and workshops across two stages. Families will also find a designated children’s area.
Dream Big at Veganmess
The theme for this year’s fair is “dreaming.” Regly Johanson, the project manager, encourages attendees to “dream big” about the environment they wish to create, their culinary aspirations, and visions of an ideal world.
Prominent local and international speakers will take to the stage on both days. Notably, on October 12, visitors can expect a video link with Earthling Ed, a well-known British vegan activist and public speaker. Ed is famed for his impactful YouTube speech, “You will never look at your life in the same way again,” which has garnered over 4.6 million views. The following day, Ken Spector, co-owner of the popular HappyCow app, will discuss emerging vegan trends.
Diverse Topics and Workshops
Throughout the weekend, visitors can engage in panels addressing various issues, including the introduction of vegan products in retail chains, strategies for reducing food waste, and the cultural aspects of veganism. Topics will also cover the experiences of vegan soldiers on the front lines in Ukraine and the concept of vege phobia.
Workshops will offer practical insights into subjects such as vegan parenting, microgreen cultivation, vegan cheese-making, and natural cosmetics. The lineup features experts like Tiina Toomet, Jaan Mettik, Maru Metspalu, and many others leading these informative sessions.
Additionally, attendees can enjoy the screening of the documentary Eating for Tomorrow, narrated by Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet. The film features insights from notable figures such as Sir Richard Branson and ocean scientist Sylvia Earle. Before the screening, there will be a video call with producer Mark Galvin.
For those looking to express themselves artistically, a charitable flash tattoo event will allow attendees to get vegan-themed tattoos while supporting the animal-friendly beauty program LILU.
