Tartu’s Spring Fair Offers Something for Everyone

Every year Tartu’s Kevadlaat (Spring Fair) draws visitors from around the country and abroad to enjoy delicious food, buy high quality handicrafts, and relish the festive air that so frequently envelopes Estonia’s university town. Tartu’s Spring Fair 2025 offers everything that is expected of this annual event, and more.

Stretching from Town Hall Square to Riia Street, the Spring Fair is divided into easily navigable districts. Each district has its own focus, for example locally made goods that cannot be found in any shopping centre. Many of the products available are popular brands known throughout the country, and this is your chance to meet the producers themselves.

Entertainment for children is also available in the family district. This usually includes face painting, fun houses, trampolines and bungees, and often even pony rides. The food district will attract everyone with the aromas of grills, smoked fish, and good food. And you’re sure to enjoy the eternally fresh smell of juniper wood throughout the entire fair area.

This year’s event is larger than usual, extending all the way to the Emajõgi River by the Market Building, with an additional handicraft zone, as well as a second food district. Just beyond that is every gardener’s requirement: a district for herbs, plants, bushes and trees.

Parking is available wherever you can find it. Tartu’s bus station is located inside the overall fair area, and the train station is a ten-minute walk away. Tartu’s Spring Fair begins at 10:00 on Saturday, 10 May, and lasts at least until 16:00. More information is available in Estonian here.
