The hotel’s ready-made packages offer a chance to escape daily life.
The Kubija Hotel & Nature Spa is located in a peaceful spot nestled in a pine forest, right on the shore of Lake Kubija. In summer, guests can step straight from the hotel onto nature trails for a walk or jog. After outdoor activities, you can relax in the hotel’s sauna and pool area or enjoy treatments offered by the Nature Spa.
The spa hotel has 62 rooms, 52 of which are standard double rooms. Most rooms have single beds, as the hotel often hosts groups. The ten more spacious suites are ideal for groups of friends or families. Standard rooms do not have a fridge, but food items can be stored in the hotel kitchen during your stay.
Breakfast at the hotel restaurant is included in the nightly rate, and the buffet meals are fresh and high-quality. The restaurant serves guests all day. In good weather, you can also dine on the summer terrace. If nightlife in Võru doesn’t appeal to you, the restaurant bar is open for late-night guests until 22:00.

Meditation and Holistic Health Care
Managing Director Maris Reimann explains that people come to Kubija to relax and appreciate peace, closeness to nature, a high-quality spa, and the hotel’s wellness and beauty services. “Some beauty treatments use natural ingredients from Estonia, such as bear fat, sea buckthorn extract, peat, or hemp oil. Neck massages using bear fat, for example, are great for men,” says Reimann.
The idea of natural wellbeing is also being expanded into the hotel’s outdoor areas.
“We are currently building a meditation area in the yard, where guests can relax and enjoy the forest and lake views. New flowerbeds have already been planted near the shore. Benches will be placed in the nearby forest for sitting and relaxing. There will also be thought-provoking quotes around the area for peaceful contemplation,” Reimann lists.
In the near future, the hotel plans to offer new holistic health packages. During these treatment days, guests will meet with professionals who provide practical advice on caring for the body and mind. A personalised treatment plan will be created, which guests can continue at home after their visit. “The treatment concept aims to promote guests’ health through medical research and professional care. Depending on guests’ wishes and needs, services may include genetic testing, bloodwork, and a consultation with a physician. Based on these, an individual treatment plan is prepared,” Reimann explains about the new concept, which will be launched by next spring.

Estonia’s Only Spa Built According to the Golden Ratio
The spa facilities are built according to the principles of the golden ratio. In architecture, this means a harmonious proportion between details and the whole, which creates a balanced and calming space. It is also said to support harmony of the body and mind. The idea came from Kubija’s owner Aigar Pindmaa, who designed the spa area himself.
The atmosphere is peaceful around 20:00 when I finally wrap myself in a bathrobe and head to the sauna. The spa area is reserved for adults in the evenings. Indoors, there’s a steam–salt sauna, juniper sauna, aroma sauna, and traditional steam sauna, as well as five different pools. Outdoors, by the lakeshore, there are two more steam saunas with terraces overlooking the tranquil lake view. The international vibe is evident—that evening, conversations in Finnish, Estonian, Russian, and Italian fill the air. Ending a long travel day in the gentle heat of the steam–salt sauna feels just right.
