New spa hotel to be built on the shores of Peipsi Lake

A new spa hotel, named Loodusspa, is set to be built on the northern shore of Peipsi Lake in Uusküla. Construction of the hotel is planned to start this autumn. The spa hotel will provide employment for 100 people and feature 97 guest rooms, with a total of 200 beds. The entire project is estimated to cost approximately 36 million euros.

Peipsi Lake, located in Eastern Estonia, is a large lake that forms part of the border between Estonia and Russia. It is the largest lake in Estonia as well as entire the Baltic region, and the fifth largest in Europe. Uusküla, the location of the new spa hotel, is a small village in the Alutaguse municipality situated on the northern shore of Peipsi Lake. It is just 45 kilometres from Jõhvi and 182 from Tallinn.

The spa hotel will be located about a couple of hundred metres from the lake. It will feature a comprehensive spa centre, treatment rooms, a seminar area, a restaurant, and two special spa suites. The surrounding environment consists of forested bogland, ideal for exercise and enjoying the tranquility of the nature. The project also includes guided nature tours of the local area and fishing on the lake.

The spa is considered one of the most significant tourism projects in Ida-Viru County.

“This will completely change the seasonal nature of the area and create year-round tourism in the Peipsi Lake region. Seasonality has been a major issue, with only two active tourism months. We are very pleased that a high-quality, modern spa hotel is being planned for Nordic and Baltic visitors,” said Kadri Jalonen, Tourism Coordinator for Eastern Estonia, in an interview with ERR.
