The Medical Spa is located in a funky building constructed in 1961, just a short walk from Narva-Jõesuu beach. This stylish spa hotel offers a wide range of traditional spa services, along with wellness packages that are unique in Estonia and the Baltic States.
The spa exclusively uses mineral water sourced from groundwater springs at a depth of 130 meters. This water is extremely pure and rich in minerals.
“The water is really good for women, who often suffer from iron deficiency, and of course for the skin, which gets the trace elements and minerals it needs,” says Karina Küppas, manager of the spa hotel.
“We have so many health-damaging things in our living environment today, which increase physical and mental stress,” says Küppas. “For example, being overweight is often largely due to a busy and stressful lifestyle.”
A couple of years ago, the Medical Spa launched the only Detox and Antistress Centre in the Baltics, offering detox, anti-stress, and weight loss programmes of varying lengths. The packages include accommodation in the spa hotel, a reception by a therapist, necessary laboratory tests, use of the hotel sauna and gym, a range of body treatments, and all group exercise classes.
“We have a very large number of clients who return to us regularly and always bring friends or relatives with them. You don’t necessarily have to buy a treatment package; you can come to our hotel and enjoy the spa and hotel services only,” says Küppas.
The Kuurort restaurant is located on the upper floor of the spa hotel, with a small roof terrace offering great views of Narva-Jõesuu. Customer service is friendly and efficient, and there is also a trained sommelier on site.
The Nordic Riviera from the Tsarist Era
Picturesque Narva-Jõesuu is just under half an hour’s drive from Narva. The small town became a spa destination as early as the 1870s when the Tallinn-St. Petersburg railway was completed. The Russian aristocracy and upper classes began to build villas, gazebos, and parks in the fishing village. During the summer months, the upper classes enjoyed a lush setting at the mouth of the Narva River on the shores of the Gulf of Finland, where they could experience unlimited soft-sand beaches, pine forests, and spa facilities. Even in the busiest summer season, Narva-Jõesuu’s fine sandy beach is 7.5 kilometers long and offers plenty of space to sunbathe and enjoy the sea. The spa town has other quality spa hotels, such as the Meresuu Spa Hotel, which is also ideal for families with children.
The town has many points of interest, including a run-down clubhouse, a few Tsarist villas, gazebos, and the Narva-Jõesuu lighthouse. A nice additional option is to rent a bike from the hotel and explore the seaside town by bike or go for a long walk along the sea.
