IGUDESMAN & JOO: Holiday concert like no other

The holiday season is often regarded as the most wonderful time of the year, a time when families come together to celebrate, share joy, and create lasting memories. If you are looking for a fresh and fun way to embrace the spirit of the season, look no further than A Little Silent Night Music by the comedic musical duo IGUDESMAN & JOO. The first show took place yesterday, December 25, at the Pärnu Concert Hall. Three more shows will follow: today, December 26, at the Vanemuine Concert Hall in Tartu, on December 27 at the Jõhvi Concert Hall, and on December 28 at the Estonia Concert Hall in Tallinn.

The performance combines heartwarming renditions of holiday classics with hilarious original Christmas and New Year songs. The result is a concert that spreads holiday cheer with a perfect mix of festive joy, virtuoso musicianship, and comedic flair.

The show features the talents of Aleksey Igudesman, a violinist, and Hyung-Ki Joo, a pianist, who form the wildly inventive duo IGUDESMAN & JOO. They are known for their popular YouTube sketches and musical mashups, which have garnered nearly 45 million views. Their performances, which blend virtuosic music with wit and improvisation, often recall the absurdity and humor of shows like Monty Python, South Park, SNL, and Portlandia. From Mozart to martial arts and Haydn to hip hop, IGUDESMAN & JOO have a way of making even the most traditional compositions exciting and humorous.

The concert is made to break down the barriers between the stage, the orchestra, and the audience. Expect the unexpected, as their performances are known for spontaneity and a little bit of chaos. Anything can and usually does happen during their shows, making them a hit with audiences worldwide who appreciate a mix of comedy and high-level musicality.

More info and tickets are available on the Piletilevi website.
