18 Oct 2024–4 May 2025 Sooster 100: View from Private Collections, Tallinn
The Sooster 100: View from Private Collections exhibition, which presents the works of Ülo Sooster (1924–1970) in honour of his 100th birthday, is in the Mikkeli Museum in Tallinn. Sooster was a prominent representative of post-war modernism and surrealism, whose work extended from early Hiiumaa paintings to unfinished compositions in the last years of his life. Sooster’s life and artistic direction were interrupted by seven years in a prison camp in Kazakhstan, after which he only briefly returned to Estonia.
25 Oct 2024–16 Mar 2025 Kaja Kärner: Friendship and Time, Tallinn
The Kaja Kärner: Friendship and Time exhibition will be open for the next two weeks at the Adamson-Eric Museum in Tallinn. Artist Kaja Kärner’s works deal a lot with Tartu’s urban environment, and people. She has also painted many works of her famous group of friends, some of which are now on display in the art museum. Kärner’s paintings vividly capture the uniqueness of a moment, and they often contain subtle irony, not to mention multiple levels of interpretation.
