According to data from the Estonian Weather Service, the average air temperature in November was 3.5oC, which is 1.4 degrees higher than the usual 2.1oC. The highest recorded temperature in the month was 14.3oC, which was registered near Paldiski on November 1.
Along with the higher than usual temperatures, Estonia also saw more sunshine than usual. Recording 43.9 hours of sunshine, which is 140 per cent more than the average of 31.4 hours. Despite this increased sunshine, rainfall was also higher, with 80 millimetres being recorded – 130 per cent more than normal.
However, the warm weather of November will soon be a distant memory because this weekend temperatures are set to fall below -10 oC. It is possible some areas in the east of Estonia may see temperatures as low as -20oC. Further snow is also expected on both Saturday and Sunday, leading to potentially dangerous road conditions.
As stated in our news piece (https://balticguide.ee/en/speed-limits-on-estonian-roads-reduced-for-winter/) on November 26, as a result of the worsening road conditions in winter, speed limits on 2+1 and 2+2 roads have been reduced from 110km/hour to 90-100 km/hour.
