Travel magazine Wanderlust: “Tallinn is one of Europe’s most desirable tourist destinations”

One of UK’s most popular travel magazines, Wanderlust, has awarded Tallinn second place in the category of Europe’s most desirable city. The winner was Dubrovnik in Croatia, and Lisbon took third place.

According to Wanderlust, it is an honour that European cities do not get easily. “This award is difficult to win because the competition is very tight. Winning this coveted award is proof of how much Estonia appeals to our discerning readers,” said Christina Wildman Mullett of Wanderlust.

Deputy Mayor Joosep Vimm explained that consistent work has been done to obtain this recognition. “The entire tourism industry and the city work together strategically to bring new visitors here and offer them a memorable experience. The praise of Wanderlust’s readers shows that tourists value Tallinn very much. This is a recognition for all companies in the tourism industry,” said Vimm.

Tourists who visited Tallinn found the old town particularly admirable. Tallinn also won second place in the “most desirable Christmas city” category. The annual Christmas market has been the main attraction for tourists visiting the Estonian capital for many years, but last year’s Christmas market received more recognition than usual.

The magazine describes Tallinn’s old town as a place where visitors can have a real experience. The wooden stalls of the Christmas market and the old town’s cosy medieval milieu have gained great popularity. Other events, concerts and performances have also not gone unnoticed by visitors.

Wanderlust is Britain’s longest-running travel magazine. The printed and digital magazine is published six times a year and encourages travel enthusiasts to travel to lesser-known countries and regions.

This winter, Tallinn Christmas Market will be open from November 25 to January 8.
