Tallink cancels Tallinn-Stockholm ferry between September 10-17

Tallink has announced the cancellation of the Tallinn-Stockholm ferry between September 10 and 17. All those with current booking have been contacted by the company. The reason for the temporary suspension of the service is because the Baltic Queen vessel that normally operates the route will be temporarily moved to the Tallinn-Helsinki route.

For those who travel on the Tallinn-Stockholm ferry/cruise. There have been a number of setbacks in the last couple of years. The closure of the route for 16 months due to the coronavirus pandemic, reopening the route in the second half of 2021, only to close it again due to high fuel costs and low passenger numbers a few months later. It did reopen again in February 2022, however with just one vessel – the Baltic Queen – operating the route. Before the pandemic, two vessels (the Baltic Queen and Victoria I) operated on the route providing a daily service.

The reason for the cancellation of the Tallinn-Stockholm ferry/cruise between September 10 and 17 is a result of the Silja Europa vessel being loaned to the Netherlands to provide temporary accommodation and the need for a vessel on the Tallinn-Helsinki route. As the second vessel (Victoria I) that previously operated the Tallinn-Stockholm route has also been leased out for temporary accommodation purposes (to the Scottish Government), there is no vessel able to serve the route, hence the week-long suspension of the service.

Tallink is in contact with all passengers whose travel bookings have been affected by the changes and apologises for the harm and inconvenience caused by the changes.
