Salaries rose almost 7% in Estonia in 2021

 

According to data released by Statistics Estonia, the average gross salary (salary before tax) rose to 1475 euros in 2021. This is 90 euros more than in 2020, which corresponds to a 6.7 per cent rise in the past year.

“Among local governments, the highest income was again earned in the rural municipalities of Harju county. The average monthly gross income was the largest in Rae rural municipality, which was also the only administrative unit where the average monthly income exceeded 2,000 euros. Among cities, the highest income was earned in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia – 1,631 euros per month on average,” explained Greta Tischler, an analyst at Statistics Estonia.

The lowest gross monthly income was in Narva city (1,074 euros), which was also the only administrative unit where the average monthly income was below 1,100 euros. A gross salary of 1074 euros corresponds to 928 euros after tax.

In 2021, the average monthly gross income was 1,635 euros for men and 1,327 euros for women. Based on age group, employees aged 25–49 earned the highest average gross income of 1,657 euros per month. The lowest income was earned by employees aged under 25, whose average gross income was 989 euros per month.
