In 2023, the AHHAA Science Centre in Tartu was visited by a total of 246,434 science enthusiasts from both Estonia and abroad. This was not just 20,000 more than in 2022, but an all-time record for the museum.
“Although tourism in Tartu has not recovered to the pre-corona level, our monthly results have competed with the best numbers ever. Dinosaurs, which are always very popular at AHHAA, certainly played a role here as well,” explained AHHAA board member Pilvi Kolk.
According to Kolk, the pandemic also showed families the value of time spent together. “Estonians want to spend more and more time with their children. The science centre is a good place for this. In addition to playing, children also learn about the world,” she added.
Foreigners also contributed to the record, with more than a third of all visitors being from Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, and elsewhere.
The AHHAA Science Centre in Tartu, which is the largest of its kind in the Baltic States, has been welcoming visitors since 2011. To date, more than 2.3 million people have visited the museum.
