RäimeWest herring festival this Saturday

On Saturday, May 11, fresh herring and other tasty fish delicacies await visitors at the Munalaiu harbour in Pärnumaa. The annual RäimeWest herring festival transforming the usual sleepy coastal village of Lao into a bustling place that showcases local fishing culture and history.
The annual herring festival is a sure sign of the beginning of summer for the residents of Lao village. Just like the sound of pottering boats and squarking seagulls has marked the return of fisherman with the first herring catch of the year for generations in the area.
During the day of the RäimeWest herring festival on May 11, it is possible to buy and try fresh herring in various forms and get to know local fishing culture and history. The event at Munalaiu fishing port in Lao küla will start at 10 am and end early in the afternoon at 2 pm.
The small port of Munalaiu is also where you can catch the ferry to the islands of Kihnu and Manilaid.
