The sauna is an essential part of Finnish and Estonian culture. In Finland, a sauna can be found in almost every home, and in Estonia, especially in rural areas, it is also an essential part of life. Estonia also frequently organises various sauna events, one of which will be held this weekend in Narva-Jõesuu.
Two pop-up saunas will be opened on the banks of the Narva River in the spa town of Narva-Jõesuu. The saunas will be open all weekend, and the steam baths can accommodate 30–100 people, depending on the sauna.
During the event, you will enjoy steam baths, aromas, and soothing music. The “Black Sauna” is a sauna of silence. The sauna master is only allowed to speak during sound and aroma rituals.
Next door is the “White Sauna”, where sauna rituals are also held. This sauna can accommodate up to a hundred people. If you wish, you can take a dip in the river to cool off.
While the saunas and hot tubs are free to use, sauna rituals, such as aromatherapy and whisking, cost 2–5 euros. There are changing tents in the area, and luggage storage costs 2 euros. Please bring cash.
The saunas are open on Saturday, 3 May, from 15:00–20:00, and on Sunday, 4 May, from 11:00–16:00. More detailed event information can be found here.
