Tallinn’s official New Year’s celebration in Freedom Square will not include fireworks again this year. Instead of fireworks, residents and visitors will be treated to a free concert, which will include performances from Laine, Trad.Attack!, as well as rap artists Nublu and Gameboy Tetris. The event will culminate with a light show.
Laine will take to the stage at 9 pm. The second performer at 10 pm will be Trad.Attack!. At 11 pm the stage will be conquered by Nublu and Gameboy Tetris. At Midnight, the light show will begin.
“Although fireworks in the night sky bring joy and excitement to many people, for animals and birds the loud noise causes stress. In addition to this, fortunately, we can’t even imagine how fireworks affect people whose homeland is currently at war”, argues Monika Haukanõmm, a representative of the Tallinn city centre area, in an article in the Pealinn magazine.
