The new year at the Niguliste Museum begins with the International Organ Week, a seven-day music event that will feature numerous evening concerts and additional events. The programme presents masterpieces from the Middle Ages to the modern era. The festival’s artistic director is Professor and organist Andres Uibo.
The opening concert took place yesterday, on January 1, titled Mitmekordselt kuninglik (Multiply Royal in English). Trumpets paired with the organ have long been considered a royal combination, having played a central role in grand royal ceremonies across European monarchies.
From January 2-7, daily organ recitals at 4 pm will see works by composers like Bach, Frescobaldi, Sweelinck, Tüür etc. performed by talented organists such as Aivar Sõerd, Ulla Krigul, and Markus Wimmer. Evening concerts, ticketed separately, begin at 6 pm and feature collaborations between organists, instrumentalists and choirs.
For the full festival programme, visit Niguliste Organ Week 2025.
