Iconic American Pizza Chain Is in Estonia

Text and photos Timo Huttunen

Iconic American Pizza Chain Is in EstoniaThe restaurant premises are not large, but pizzas are constantly delivered from here all throughout Tallinn.

Domino’s Pizza opened its first and only restaurant in Tallinn at the end of 2023, in Mustamäe Keskus. You can eat at the pizzeria or order pizza to the address of your choice. The restaurant promises delivery within 30 minutes.

Domino’s Pizza is an American restaurant chain. Founded in 1960, the company is the second largest pizza chain in the US, after Pizza Hut. Domino’s Pizza has a total of about 18,000 owned or franchised restaurants in 75 countries. In America, Domino’s Pizza can be found in almost every shopping centre. The chain does not operate in Finland.

At the heart of the Mustamäe pizzeria is an open kitchen where everything is made by hand. There is also a huge pizza oven on display, in which the pizzas are baked on a conveyor belt. They are baked for exactly six and a half minutes at a temperature of 230 degrees.

Medium-sized pepperoni pizza.

There are about twenty seats in the restaurant. But the small restaurant sends pizzas throughout Tallinn all the time in a continuous stream. “Our most popular pizza is the pepperoni,” the friendly customer service representative informed us when we placed our order.

The pizzas have two different crusts available. They are the traditional, fluffy, and slightly thicker American crust, and the thin, Italian-style crust. There are three sizes. You can also order a cheese-stuffed crust for larger pizzas.

Domino’s Pizza’s menu items are in English. The white “5 Cheeses” pizza topped with five different cheeses is good. The flavours of the different cheeses combined with the thin and fluffy, but very tasty American pizza crust create an excellent ensemble. At least part of the secret of the taste can be found in the dough.

The recommended pepperoni pizza is also a tasty and very traditional, American-style pizza, but the cheese pizza won out. The pepperoni’s crust was a thin Italian crust.

In addition to pizzas, Domino’s Pizza offers various potato dishes, chicken wings, breads, and desserts.
