Glass and Graphic Art Exhibition Opens in Pärnu

The glass and graphic art exhibition “LÄBIRÄÄKIMISED” (Negotiations) opening at Pärnu’s Museum of New Art brings together two traditionally separate art forms. The public can explore the artists’ works, in which the boundaries between glass and graphic art blur, and each respective boundary is boldly crossed. The artists in the exhibition have created a space where the works seem to meet their creators for the first time, as if they had just been completed. The glass work rises from the furnace, and the graphic art arrives from the press.

The processes of glass and graphic art are not always under the artist’s control. Sometimes they take their own directions, unexpectedly and unpredictably. The artist’s role is in a certain way uncontrollable in relation to the forces of chemistry and physics. The works become living, independent elements that take shape when their original creator encounters their new essence.

In this exhibition, the worlds of glass and graphic art meet in a surprising way. It is not just about the coexistence of the two art forms, but about their interaction, which raises questions about the nature of art, and the creative process. The participating artists are:
Sofi Aršas, Sirje Eelma, Maria Erikson, Riho Hütt, Anu Juurak, Erki Kannus, Merle Kannus, Malle Karik-Hallimäe, Kati Kerstna, Eve Koha, Kairi Orgusaar, Rait Prääts, Kerttu Rannik, Lembe Ruben, Maret Sarapu, Tiina Sarapu, Eili Soon, Helen Tago-Mullaste, Andres Tali, Mirjam Varik, Kai Kiudsoo-Värv, and Vello Vinn

The opening ceremony will be held on Saturday, 26 April at 15:00 at Pärnu’s Museum of New Art.

26 Apr–24 Jun 2025 NEGOTIATIONS exhibition, Pärnu’s Museum of New Art.
