Exhibition explores 800 Years of Tartu’s history

The exhibition Invisible City is open at the University of Tartu Museum until December 31, 2025, offers insight into Tartu’s medieval past. It examines the historical events that shaped the city, the development of its urban structure, and the daily lives of its residents in the 13th century.

Visitors can learn about key moments, such as the events of 1224, and explore how much of medieval Tartu still exists today. The exhibition also provides details on what people wore, what they ate, and how they lived centuries ago.

Models demonstrating Tartu’s landscape over time, from ancient settlements to the city as it appeared in the early 14th century, bring historical research to life. Archaeological findings from Tartu and its surroundings further add to the experience. Through historical artifacts and reconstructions, the exhibition presents a detailed look at how the city evolved over 800 years.

More information about the exhibition is available on the University of Tartu Museum website.
