02.11.24–02.03.25 Ryoji Ikeda’s Solo exhibition, ERM, Tartu

The exhibition combines art and science, presenting a multi-sensory journey through genomics and human expression. Key pieces include “The Critical Paths” an LED installation visualising human genomic data, and “Vox Aeterna” a soundscape featuring the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir.

 

23.11.24–29.05.25 Kinky Boots, Vanemuine Theatre, Tartu

The acclaimed musical Kinky Boots delivers a heart-warming and witty tale of friendship, self-expression, and daring fashion. Featuring music by pop legend Cyndi Lauper, this six-time Tony Award winner is directed by Finnish director Samuel Harjanne.

 

13.12.24-02.03.25 Recycling exhibition GIVE A NEW LIFE, The Museum of New Art, Pärnu

The exhibition digs into the theme of ROOTS, exploring the connection between heritage and sustainability. Artists transform discarded materials into innovative pieces, from Christmas wreaths made of old books to jewellery crafted from coffee grounds. The exhibition also addresses climate change, reimagining traditional items like sledges and skates for a snowless future.

 

07–31.01 Anna-Liisa Kree: Growing up in ones village, Children’s Art School, Tartu

This exhibition presents analogue photographs that explore the profound theme of valuing human life through her personal journey. By documenting her son, who has Down syndrome, Kree captures intimate moments that reflect societal inclusion and the deep bonds within her community. The exhibition uses the metaphor of a village to highlight the collective strength found in embracing diversity and shared experiences.

 

09.01–08.02 Ardo Sägi’s solo exhibition “Messengers”, Gallery Pallas, Tartu

The exhibition explores the emotional impact of various messages that have shaped Sägi’s artistic journey. Each piece in the exhibition is a visual interpretation of a specific message, conveying a range of emotions through different mediums. The exhibition, which occupies two floors of the gallery, represents Sägi’s largest solo display to date, showcasing his graphic prints and drawings.

 

18–26.01 Pärnu Contemporary Music Days, Pärnu

Pärnu Contemporary Music Days will focus on the connections between surrealism and music, marking the 100th anniversary of surrealism. The event will include an interdisciplinary surrealist music workshop, symposium, concerts, and presentations. The workshop will apply surrealist techniques to creating multimedia compositions, bringing together composers, performers, and creatives from various fields to collaborate.

 

19–26.01 MustonenFest 2025, Tallinn, Tartu, Viljandi, Narva

MustonenFest presents a week of varied performances, spanning from jazz to baroque, with concerts held across Estonia and featuring both local and international musicians. The festival is organised by the highly respected versatile Estonian musician Andres Mustonen, who will also perform at several of the events.

 

22.01 Intuitive Project feat. Tanel Ruben, New Theatre, Tartu

The Intuitive Project, an international music collective, will present original compositions infused with elements of jazz, rock, and pop. Featuring Tanel Ruben on drums, the group will perform tracks from their latest album during the concert, titled “At the Crossroads of Two Worlds.” The ensemble has previously performed in Estonia, Russia, and Israel, and is known for its dynamic and genre-blending sound.

 

25.01 Blues Bizarre (FI) & Andres Roots (EE), Kidrakuur Kultuuriklubi, Tallinn

Blues Bizarre provides a fresh take on traditional blues by blending psychedelic and Eastern influences. Following the release of their self-titled debut album in September 2024, the band has gained attention at major Finnish festivals, including an invitation to perform at the 2025 Puistoblues. They will perform at the Roots Session’s season opener alongside the renowned Estonian slide guitarist Andres Roots.

 

26.01–03.03 Vanemuine Foyer Concerts, Vanemuine Theatre, Tartu

The Vanemuine Foyer concert series presents classical, modern, and folk music across three performances. The series explores a range of musical styles, from intricate chamber works and iconic quartets to vocal duos interpreting iconic 20th-century composers and traditional English songs.
