Estonian National Opera Christmas Concert

The Estonian National Opera’s beloved Christmas concert is a festive highlight of the holiday season, bringing warm music and seasonal spirit to audiences in the beautiful setting of St John’s Church, on Freedom Square, in Tallinn. This traditional concert offers a wonderful opportunity to relax, enjoy world-class performers, and immerse yourself in the warm and festive sounds of Christmas.

The programme features a rich selection of classical masterpieces and well-loved Christmas music. The centrepiece of the evening is Mozart’s joyful and ceremonial “Coronation Mass”, alongside powerful and uplifting excerpts from Handel’s “Messiah”, including the famous “Hallelujah” chorus and “For unto us a child is born”. These timeless works are complemented by familiar and heart-warming Christmas carols that bring a sense of closeness and celebration to the evening.

The concert is led by conductor Arvo Volmer and performed by outstanding soloists, a choir, and the orchestra of the Estonian National Opera. The musical experience is further enriched by piano and organ accompaniment, creating a full and glowing sound that suits the church’s acoustics perfectly.

This Christmas concert is ideal for anyone who loves classical music, sacred works, or simply wants to enjoy the peaceful and joyful mood of the season in a special atmosphere. It is a beautiful way to gather with family, friends, or loved ones and welcome Christmas through music.
