Direct flights to Helsinki from Tartu and Pärnu to begin in the coming months

Finnair will reopen its direct flight connection between Helsinki and Tartu on March 28, with 5 return flights each week. In addition, Estonian airline NyxAir will start a regular summer service between Helsinki and Pärnu on May 5, with 2 services per week.

Finnair will reopen its Helsinki-Tartu route on March 28, with 5 flights per week. The 68-seater ATR-72-500 aircraft will operate from Monday to Friday. Flights from Tartu on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays will depart in the evening. These flights will enable passaengers to connect to Finnair’s evening flights across Scandinavia and Europe, as well as to Asia. The flights on Tuesdays and Thursdays will depart in the morning. The journey will take approximately 50 minutes.

Currently, the price of a one-way flight ticket is about 80 euros.

The Estonian airline NyxAir will start regular summer flights between Helsinki and Pärnu on May 5. This seasonal route will operate initially until August 28. The 50-seat Saab 2000 aircraft will depart twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays. The flight time will be approximately 40 minutes.

The price of a one-way ticket is 60 euros.

“Pärnu, the summer capital of our northern neighbours, has always been a beloved travel destination. The high-speed flight connection brings Helsinki and Pärnu closer together. After the modernization, Pärnu Airport will be even more attractive. The goal is to bring international flights to Pärnu at least seasonally. If the Helsinki-Pärnu route starts well and there are enough passengers, we will consider increasing the number of flights,” said Jaanus Ojamets, CEO of NyxAir.

“Since 2014, the City of Pärnu has worked hard with its partners, the Estonian Ministry of Finance and Tallinn Airport, to renovate the runway, terminal and related infrastructure at Pärnu Airport. At the end of last year, the renovated Pärnu Airport was opened. Without flights, this large investment would not have made sense, ” rejoiced the Mayor of Pärnu Romek Kosenkranius.
