Days of National Cultures

Tallinn is the capital of Estonia, the seat of Estonian culture—well, Tartu might argue about that—and unquestionably the most culturally diverse place in the country. Depending on the information available and where you look, as much as half of the city might be people from cultures other than Estonia. To celebrate this, and learn about our neighbours, Tallinn is holding the Days of National Cultures 2025 event from 20–28 September.
For nine days, there will be 57 individual events introducing participants to the various minority cultures in and around the city. From workshops and lectures, to drink tastings and culinary events, and even dancing and concerts. There will even be an Ethno Fair on Town Hall Square on 21 September, tomorrow.
To name just a few of these wonderful and fascinating events, there will be a concert by a Moldovan accordionist, French dancing, a workshop on the aromas of plants in folklore, a festival celebrating African music, and a concert featuring Russian choir music.
An event titled “A Taste of Mexico” where you can expect amazing flavours, a workshop familiarising visitors with all the various animals that live in Tallinn’s parks, a discussion about Tatars in Tallinn, and an Azerbaijani concert. A Turkish breakfast meeting, a panel discussion on the differences between Estonians and Ukrainians, an Arabic coffee morning, and discussions of Finno–Ugric culture.
