Let’s face it, summer in Estonia can be exhausting! With such a short period of time to enjoy the amazing weather and long days, it’s no wonder Estonians like to squeeze every last moment from it. Attending even a small portion of the events can make a person need a vacation. Culture Night in Tallinn—or Kultuuriöö Tallinnas in Estonian—features free workshops, exhibitions, concerts, tours, various performances, and so much more.

This year’s slogan is “The Machine and I”, which will serve to focus on how technological development has influenced art and creativity throughout the years. Culture Night as a festival itself showcases the richness and variety of culture in Tallinn, with special emphasis on artists who do not usually receive the spotlight.

Of particular interest for visitors would be Põhjala tehas in Northern Tallinn, which will feature live music, art, technology, food and beverage, and theatre. The night will stretch on till morning with live DJs from Germany.

Harjumägi, behind Freedom Square, will have a free concert featuring the internationally acclaimed electronic duo CARTOON, along with performances by Iiris Vesik, and Maria Kallastu.

Fotografiska will host an interactive exhibition where visitors themselves become the artist. Using their smartphones, visitors’ photographs will be shown in the main exhibition hall with the help of photographer Kertin Vasser.

The complete programme for Culture Night in Tallinn is available here, but only in Estonian. Visitors to Tallinn can also simply wander the streets of the Old Town, and they will be sure to find something of interest on this special night.
