Over the next two days (February 2-3) more than 900 participants from 14 countries are expected to take part in the European Sauna Marathon in and around Otepää and Tõrva in southern Estonia. Teams of 4 will compete to visit as many saunas as possible in a set time, with bonus points also available.
The European Sauna Marathon, which is taking place for the 13th time this year, is a fun orienteering event where teams compete to visit as many saunas as possible in a set time.
Of course, there are some rules though, as well as the opportunity for bonus points. Namely, all four members of a team must spend at least 3 minutes in a sauna, and bonus points are available for taking a dip in ice holes and spending time in hot tubs.
The main prize for the winners of the European Sauna Marathon Otepää is a hot tub by Lemmik Mees OÜ. Other special prizes will also be awarded.
Sadly taking part in the event is no longer possible as it has sold out. However, there will be a local producers fair in Otepää central square from 10 am till 1 pm on Saturday. And, it is possible to attend the afterparty on Saturday evening for just 5 euros.
You can find more information on the official European Sauna Marathon website.
