New exhibition at AHHAA Science Centre explores the power of adrenaline

On Friday, May 18, a new and exciting educational exhibition entitled “Aha, adrenaline!” opened at the AHHAA Science Centre in Tartu. The exhibition focuses on the effects of adrenaline on the human body and teaches you how to cope successfully in stressful situations.

The new exhibition aims build visitors’ courage and self-confidence. “There has been a societal shift towards a safe childhood – children with little experience of adrenaline are spending more and more time in structured activities, and coping in an environment without boundaries and limits has become more challenging than ever for young people.” said Andres Juur, Head of the AHHAA Science Centre.

Neuroscientist Mari Sild and Andero Uusberg, Professor of Affective Psychology at the University of Tartu, were involved in putting together the exhibition. According to Sild, adrenaline affects the metabolism, heals the senses and the mind, increases attention and concentration, but also on the negative side, increases feelings of panic.

According to Professor Uusberg, facing adrenaline-heavy situations can train courage and self-confidence. “The better we recognise our body’s reactions to different stressors, the better we can cope with them and regulate our emotions,” he added.

The exhibition will remain open until November. If you would like more information, visit the official AHHAA Science Centre website.
