1.8 million passengers in just one year

Today marks exactly one year since Tallink’s newest ferry MyStar went into operation on the Tallinn-Helsinki. During that first year, MyStar has made more than 2,100 journeys across the Gulf of Finland, which is equivalent to approximately 4.3 trips around the world – carrying almost 1.8 million passengers in the process.

“We are very happy that MyStar has been so warmly received by our customers, because the ship was built precisely with our customers’ wishes and needs in mind. MyStar has exceeded all our expectations as the newest member of our fleet and the most modern ship in the Baltic Sea. MyStar is also equipped to operate on biogas or a mix of biogas and LNG. In addition, the ship has an electric propulsion system, which means that it is essentially an electric ship,” explained Paavo Nõgene, CEO of Tallink Grupp.

During the first year, a total of 1,708,700 passengers have traveled on MyStar, which operates on the Tallinn-Helsinki route. In July of this year alone, almost a quarter of a million passengers traveled on MyStar (248,900 passengers). During the year, MyStar has also transported almost 4,700 pets, more than 357,000 cars, and in excess of 116,000 cargo units.

The most MyStar passengers were from Finland with over 825,500 passengers, the second most were from Estonia with more than 544,500 passengers, and the third most from Latvia with over 40,000 passengers. The next largest number of passengers were from Ukraine with approximately 29,000 passengers, from the USA with over 18,000 passengers, and from Germany with 16,000 passengers. The most exotic country from which a traveler has boarded MyStar is French Polynesia.

The construction of MyStar started on April 6, 2020, at Rauma Marine Construction’s shipyard in Finland, and the ship was handed over to Tallink on December 7, 2022. MyStar’s first commercial departure on the Tallinn-Helsinki route took place on December 13, 2022 – exactly one year ago today.
