Pikk Street in Tallinn is arguably the longest and most-travelled street in the Old Town. It stretches from the northern entrance by the Paks Margareeta tower, to the seat of the Estonian government atop Toompea Hill, where the street becomes known as Pikk jalg, or \u201cLong Leg\u201d. Every year, local residents, businesses and organisations, and visitors come together for the Pikk Street Festival, and celebrate Old Town culture and company. The main event is the very, very long picnic table. Or you could call it a \u201cPikk-nic\u201d table.<\/p>\n
The day kicks off with a flea market at Green Market Square, or Roheline turg in Estonian. This will last from 11:00 until 15:30, and visitors can buy fish, flowers, vegetables, and much more.<\/p>\n
Starting at noon, there are hourly concerts until midnight at Pikk 15. These concerts are performed by Vaiko Hanson<\/b>, whose \u201cFormless Reset\u201d sound journeys combine medieval spaces with modern sounds. Space is limited so advance registration is required.<\/p>\n
Open courtyards are also part of the tradition. Various addresses, such as the Meriton Hotel and again at the Green Market Square, will allow visitors to enter. Many venues will even have concerts. There are also workshops, excursions, guided tours, and much more for visitors and local residents to enjoy along Pikk Street throughout the day.<\/p>\n
And of course the main event: The Pikk Street Picnic! Seating will be laid out for 300 people to enjoy the tastes of local restaurants and caterers. While this event is already sold out, you can still walk by and see what people are eating\u2026and visit these restaurants themselves.<\/p>\n
Back at the Paks Margareeta tower, in the rooftop caf\u00e9, Sofia Rubina<\/b> will give a concert at 18:00.<\/p>\n
