In Estonia, the day remains an important annual event during which wives, mothers, daughters, and\u2014in the case of single men\u2014female friends are remembered with flowers and often a restaurant dinner, sometimes accompanied by cake and sparkling wine. During the Soviet times, the day was marked on calendars in red as a public holiday. Although society and working life have made the holiday more ordinary, many employers still acknowledge the women in their communities with small floral or refreshment greetings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Because this time the date falls right after payday weekend, many entertainment businesses are making the most of the festive Women\u2019s Day consumer atmosphere. Starting already on Thursday, but especially on Saturday, various <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/882686387939672\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">hobby and craft<\/span><\/a><\/span> gatherings, <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/1609738846887312\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">concerts<\/span><\/a><\/span>, <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/fienta.com\/et\/kaunase-kabaree-164345\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">cabaret<\/span><\/a><\/span> and cocktail evenings, <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/1284211483590805\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">themed dinners<\/span><\/a><\/span>, and more\u2014marketed as celebrations of womanhood\u2014are held across Estonia. In any case, making a restaurant reservation from Friday onwards is strongly recommended.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left;\">According to Facebook event pages, the following Estonian restaurants will hold programme-based dinners\u2014featuring music, storytelling, or a special menu\u2014between 6\u20138 March, or brunches on Sunday. If you\u2019re coming to Estonia, check your favourite restaurants\u2019 websites or Facebook pages to confirm schedules, so you won\u2019t be turned away at the door with the apology: \u201cWe\u2019re already completely full.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Friday nights in Tallinn\u2019s restaurants are always popular, even though this time there seem to be no advance announcements online about special Women\u2019s Day Eve events. In P\u00e4rnu, however, Restaurant Noot and\u2014on all three weekend evenings\u2014Restaurant Kurgo are already in the spirit of the occasion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Special Saturday programmes in Tallinn restaurants include: Focus, Hiiu Pubi, Horisont, Humalakoda, Puente, Roof, and Swiss<span class=\"s2\">\u00f4<\/span>tel\u2019s The Quarter, and elsewhere in Estonia: Sinimandria in Tartu, and Raimond in P\u00e4rnu.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left;\">On Sunday, Women\u2019s Day brunch in Tallinn will be served at least at: A.JU, Fotografiska, Literaat, MEKK, NOA, Paju Villa, Senso, Tchaikovsky, UMA, V\u00f5iV\u00f5i, and the cat caf\u00e9 Nurri. In P\u00e4rnu, brunches are offered at Villa Ammende and Villa Wesset, and in Tartu at least at Paber Tiiger, Pazzo, and \u00dclikooli kohvik.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left;\">A special Women\u2019s Day dinner can be enjoyed in Tallinn at least at ISSEI, and in P\u00e4rnu at Mon Ami, and the Beach Hotel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Sunday evening can also be spent with music dedicated to women. In Tallinn, <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/1452131689852162\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">Jalmar Vabarna<\/span><\/a><\/span>\u2014known from the band Trad.Attack!\u2014will give a solo concert at the N\u00f5mme Cultural Centre, and a grander event takes place at the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/1412253317276350\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">Alexela Concert Hall<\/span><\/a><\/span>, where Ivo Linna, Marko Matvere, and others will headline the romantic \u201cFrom Men to Women\u201d gala concert. In Tartu, Estonia\u2019s perhaps best-known a cappella group, Estonian Voices, will perform in the atrium of the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/2643731219335298\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">National Museum ERM<\/span><\/a><\/span> in honour of their new album \u201cFor My Dearest\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; International Women\u2019s Day is celebrated on Sunday, 8 March.
