Can\u2019t wait for the snow to break, the ice to melt, and orchids to be smelt? You\u2019re in luck if you head over to the Tallinn Botanic Garden this week. From 27 February only until 8 March, the 26th annual Orchid Exhibition is taking place, with hundreds of species of orchid on display in the tropical Palm House.<\/p>\n

Orchids can also be viewed up close in the botanical garden\u2019s greenhouses. The entire exhibition is open daily from 11:00 until 16:00, so this is an excellent reason to skip work or school\u2014but you didn\u2019t hear that here. There are over 22,000 orchid species in the world, and at this exhibition you can see a massive selection of wild and cultivated varieties alike.<\/p>\n

These exotic flowers always make excellent gifts, or beautiful additions to your own garden. Several varieties will be on sale by Rikets Lilled, a major Estonian florist chain, at the botanical garden. They provide orchids sent to Estonia specifically for this event, and include a wide selection of varieties not commonly found in local floral shops. A special presentation will also be made by Currlin Orchideen, a German orchid nursery that is coming to Estonia specifically for the year\u2019s orchid exhibition. This presentation will only last from 5\u20139 March.<\/p>\n

Keep in mind that International Women\u2019s Day is also on Sunday, 8 March. If you don\u2019t know which flowers to give the lovely ladies in your life, why not\u2026all of them?<\/p>\n

Experienced orchid specialists will also be on site to provide valuable information on how to raise, cultivate, and choose orchids.<\/p>\n

Tickets are available at the door, and discounted e-tickets are available here<\/span><\/a><\/span>. While the greenhouses and visitors centre close at 16:00, the outdoor gardens are open from 9:00 until 20:00 every day.<\/p>\n
