On Valentine\u2019s Day, Saturday 14 February at 19:00, the grand hall of the Kadriorg Art Museum will be filled with romance as Finnish soprano Marion Melnik<\/b> and pianist Piia Paemurru<\/b> invite the audience to enjoy an evening of love songs. The concert \u201cArmastuse h\u00e4\u00e4led\u201d, or \u201cVoices of Love\u201d, offers an atmospheric musical journey from opera to lied<\/i>, and from musical theatre melodies to evergreen classics.<\/p>\n

The evening\u2019s programme consists of love songs that have touched listeners across generations. The concert includes works by composers such as Georges Bizet<\/b>, Anton\u00edn Dvo\u0159\u00e1k<\/b>, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart<\/b>. In addition, well-known pieces by Leonard Bernstein<\/b>, Andrew Lloyd Webber<\/b>, and Astor Piazzolla<\/b> will be performed. Italian music lovers will be treated to beloved songs by Francesco Sartori<\/b> and Eduardo di Capua<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Soprano Marion Melnik graduated from the Sibelius Academy and has performed widely on various stages, and participated in numerous singing competitions. She has a strong background in classical singing, but lighter music also appeals to her: \u201cIn addition to opera, my heart also beats for lighter music. I love being able to combine my skills as broadly as possible.\u201d Melnik\u2019s musical roots also extend to Estonia: her father, Oleg Melnik<\/b>, was a well-known entertainer, and her family supported her path in the world of classical music.<\/p>\n

Heart-touching songs from different eras<\/h2>\n

The concert programme has been carefully constructed, and also includes rarely heard gems. \u201cThis concert presents a cross-section of opera, lied<\/i>, musicals, and evergreens. It also includes some lesser-known songs that still move listeners, even though they are already hundreds of years old,\u201d Melnik explains.<\/p>\n

Dvo\u0159\u00e1k\u2019s \u201cSong to the Moon\u201d from \u201cRusalka\u201d is one of her particular favourites, and the Italian love songs instantly transport listeners under the Mediterranean sun.
\u201cThis concert will be a heart-warming whole. I am incredibly happy to perform in this majestic hall with the dream pianist of singers, Piia Paemurru.\u201d<\/p>\n
